Memories come and go
as they please,
as independent beings,
sometimes they may be
unwelcome visitors
you want to forget,
sometimes they make you laugh,
sometimes they become
a treasure to hold onto,
one day they are the muses
you are waiting for
or the showers that refresh your senses.
In any case, they accompany us
anywhere as they are free,
as they lack shapes or contours,
they mold and connect
the ephemeral thought
with the lasting soul.

Oh memories!
Sweet travelers
bitter settlers
carrying scenes
of passion
of suffering
of compassion
of rejoicing
and here comes one.
Oh New England winter!
Frozen river of white crystal
I long for those eyes
diaphanous beauty
I find refuge in my warm tropical heart
while my mind wanders
under deep blue skies
in frosted soils
near naked trees.
